Board of Directors

Bhaskar Dutta is the President of DM3D Technology. Bhaskar is a PHD in Metallurgical Engineering and has over 30 years of experience in the field of metallurgy and metal processing, including 20 years in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) industry. He has multiple technical publications and presentations in the field of AM, as well as two co-authored books and several book chapters on AM. He also has multiple six patents on metal AM. For past five years, Bhaskar has been intimately involved in developing large scale metal printing capability at DM3D and has been working with government agencies, such as NASA as well large DoD contractors to develop successful applications and qualify them using large scale metal printing process. Bhaskar is a member of ASM International and SME. He is also a member of AMPM Program Committee.

Anupam has been one of the first-three team members of 10+ startups in the materials, energy, manufacturing, cleantech and technology industries. He is also the cofounder of a battery regeneration and a lithium extraction startup. Anupam’s role over the past decade has been to get involved with early/growth-stage products/companies across variety of industries at the ideation, prototype and/or product commercialization stage to productize ideas/concepts, help build a team, develop business plan and go-to market strategy, raise capital, formulate strategic growth plans/models, develop/manage strategic partnerships, drive business development and then lead overall organizational and corporate development efforts. With his team, Anupam has assisted in commercialization of 20+ products across the globe, has secured over $1 billion in equity, debt and project financing for early/growth-stage companies and cleantech projects, and has helped set-up manufacturing and sales/distribution operations across the globe. Anupam has a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from University of Mumbai and a Masters in Engineering Management from Case Western Reserve University.

Current Positions:

This position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will allow for new challenges to be conquered on a regular basis; the free expression of ideas in efforts to meet such challenges; the development of new skills through the exercise of unique solutions; and friendly, well-trained co-workers focused on problem solving not competition. All in a well-equipped work environment with advanced technology. The successful candidate will provide support and continual improvement direction for the Direct Metal Deposition (DMD) process (a Laser DED process) at DM3D’s facility in Auburn Hills. This process engineer will be responsible for the following

Responsibilities:

  • Operation of Robot or CNC based DMD systems (laser DED) involving fixtures, alignment, set up and part programming on the machine to process customer and/or test parts as per job instructions
  • Provide shop floor personnel with manufacturing/troubleshooting assistance and expertise through regular contact with supervision
  • CAD/CAM design and toolpathing for in-house jobs.
  • Drive improvement initiatives within the department to increase process and work efficiency
  • Interface with Supervisors, Operators and Customers to resolve technical problems
  • Arrange demonstrations of DMD systems and applications capabilities, for customer visits
  • DMD system installation, customer training and field support as needed
  • Assist in R&D programs related to process development area
  • Assist with DM3D’s Quality systems
  • Any other relevant task as directed by the supervisor

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (Mechanical/ Materials/ Electrical systems and controls)
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Industry experience
  • Proficiency with MS office
  • Must be field or “hands on” oriented and must have ability to work without supervision

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in engineering/PhD (Mechanical/ Materials/ Electrical systems and controls)
  • Working experience with DED process / laser cladding / laser welding on CNC or Robot platform
  • Experience with solid modeling, thermomechanical simulation software, statistical tools is desirable
  • Ability to travel domestically (10%)
  • Excellent communication skills

As a DMD Operator, you will play a vital role in the production process, utilizing our state-of-the-art Direct Metal Deposition (DMD)® technology to create high-quality metal parts and components. You will have the opportunity to be trained on our proprietary Direct Metal Deposition (DMD)® technology while carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the job such as machine set-up, programming and monitoring, quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting, and following standard safety protocols to produce the highest quality results for our clients.

Job-Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 1st & 2nd shifts available – Overtime if necessary- (***Must be able to train on 1st shift for first weeks of job***)

Pay: $22+/hr (rate dependent on experience) + shift premiums

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Operation of proprietary Direct Metal Deposition (DMD®) Machines
  • Tool path editing using CAM software (as needed)
  • Metallographic preparation of samples
  • Assisting in other machining operations, such as surface grinding, drilling, welding (if required)
  • Problem solving unique solutions for the advancement of cutting-edge technology

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of recent experience in CNC/Robot operating
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, etc.
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalency
  • Attention to detail and Quality experience
  • Problem solving skills and mechanical troubleshooting knowledge
  • Communication and Collaboration skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CAM software
  • Experience in laser systems, laser welding, or laser deposition
  • Programming experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in grinding, milling, etc. machining
